TARGET MARKETING
RJR cancelled a planned test market of Uptown following a surge of protest from the African-American community in Philadelphia and protests from the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Louis W. Sullivan, M.D. Uptown was never put on the market. A unique feature of its packaging was that the filters were placed at the bottom of the pack. (1990)

RJR developed Dakota for "virile females". It was test marketed in Houston. (1990) (Alan Blum, M.D.)
