Marlboro Ultra Smooth, the first blend of Marlboro cigarettes to be made with a carbon containing filter. The onsert provided with the pack states:"New Marlboro UltraSmooth Filter Select" "Its new carbon filter lets the flavor through for a filtered smooth taste." This blend was introduced sometime after February 2005 in only three selected test market cities: Atlanta, GA, Tampa, FL, and Salt Lake City, UT. The use of Salt Lake City as a test market was found to be surprising considering the fact that it has the lowest percentage of smokers in the country. Ultra Smooth has raised concerns about its potential to be perceived by consumers as a reduced risk tobacco product.
